IC 5067 in the Pelican Nebula

NASA APOD · Antonio Fernandez
COSMIC MESSAGE

IC 5067 is a prominent ridge of emission within the larger Pelican Nebula. This ridge, which spans about 10 light-years, follows the curve of the cosmic pelican's head and neck. This false-color view highlights the pervasive glow from atoms in the nebula, a common technique in Hubble Space Telescope images of star-forming regions. Dark shapes within the nebula are regions of dense dust.
