Comet Holmes, 17P/Holmes, experienced an incredible outburst, increasing in brightness over half a million times in hours. This transformed it from an obscure comet into a naked-eye object, rivaling bright stars in Perseus. This image, taken from Tehran, Iran, shows the comet's dramatic new visibility in urban skies. It was a remarkable event for comet watchers.
