NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

In 1908, a meteor exploded over the Tunguska River in Siberia, an event far more powerful than the Hiroshima atomic bomb. The blast flattened trees for over 40 kilometers and caused a strong earthquake. This photo shows the devastation left by the impact, taken years later by a Russian expedition.
