The Sun's outer atmosphere, the corona, is visible during a total solar eclipse. Its subtle shades and shimmering features span a wide range of brightness. This composite of 28 digital images, with exposures from 1/1000 to 2 seconds, comes close to revealing the corona's full detail. The telescopic views were recorded near Kochenevo, Russia.
