Dust Mountains in the Carina Nebula

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Bright, young stars sometimes sculpt picturesque dust mountains shortly after their birth. The energetic light and winds from these massive newborn stars slowly burn away accumulations of dark dust and cool gas. This image shows a small part of NGC 3324, a star-forming region near the edge of the Carina Nebula, in scientifically assigned colors. The Carina Nebula is one of the largest and brightest nebulae in the sky.
