The North America Nebula

NASA APOD · Ignacio Rico Gualda
COSMIC MESSAGE

The North America Nebula, NGC 7000, is a star-forming region in the constellation Cygnus. The bright part that resembles Central America and Mexico is called the Cygnus Wall. This wall is a hotbed of gas, dust, and newly formed stars. Bright young stars illuminate and erode it, while dark dust partly hides it.
