Beta Pictoris, a young star 50 light-years away, is surrounded by a dusty debris disk with a clear inner zone. This clear zone, about the size of our solar system, is strong evidence for planet formation. Infrared observations from the European Southern Observatory detected a source in this clear zone, likely a planet.
