Simeis 147: Supernova Remnant

COSMIC MESSAGE

This is Simeis 147, a supernova remnant in Taurus. It's what's left after a star blew itself apart, and it's still expanding. The intricate filaments are made of hydrogen, sulfur, and oxygen atoms. The whole cloud is about 150 light-years wide and sits 3,000 light-years away.
