Lyrid Meteor and Milky Way

NASA APOD · an annual shower
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Lyrid Meteor Shower occurs annually as Earth passes through dust from comet Thatcher. This image captured a bright Lyrid meteor streaming from the radiant point near Vega in Lyra. Photographed in the early morning hours, the meteor streaks across the sky above White Mountain. It is a striking example of this yearly celestial event.
