COSMIC MESSAGE

The Whale Galaxy, NGC 4631, is a spiral galaxy seen edge-on in the constellation Canes Venatici. It is about 25 million light-years away and similar in size to our own Milky Way. Its slightly distorted shape gives it the appearance of a cosmic herring or a whale. You can see its dark dust lanes, yellowish core, and blue star clusters.
