NASA APOD · Rory A. Duncan (United Space Alliance)
COSMIC MESSAGE

Last week, NASA test-fired the Ares 1-X rocket, the first non-shuttle rocket launched from Kennedy Space Center since the Saturn program. This test is part of the plan to replace the aging space shuttle fleet. The Ares 1-X can reach over 100 kilometers per hour in under eight seconds due to its powerful thrust.
