A Fading Moonset Over Hong Kong

NASA APOD · Wah!
COSMIC MESSAGE

This multi-frame image shows the setting Moon, stars, and Jupiter over Hong Kong, China. Celestial objects appear dimmer closer to the horizon because their light travels through more of Earth's atmosphere. The atmosphere absorbs and scatters light, making objects fainter the greater the airmass they pass through. The brightest streak in the center is the setting Moon.
