The Coma Cluster of Galaxies

NASA APOD · Dean Rowe
COSMIC MESSAGE

Almost every object in this photograph is a galaxy. This is the Coma Cluster, one of the densest clusters we know of, containing thousands of galaxies. Each galaxy houses billions of stars, just like our own Milky Way. Light from the Coma Cluster takes hundreds of millions of years to reach us, even though it is relatively nearby.
