COSMIC MESSAGE
The dark Horsehead Nebula and the glowing Orion Nebula are contrasting cosmic vistas. They appear in opposite corners of this mosaic, about 1,500 light-years away. The Horsehead Nebula is a dark cloud, a silhouette against the red glow at the lower left. Alnitak, the easternmost star in Orion's belt, is the brightest star to the left of the Horsehead.
