COSMIC MESSAGE
On October 14, a 'ring of fire' annular eclipse will cross the Americas. The Moon will pass in front of the Sun, but it will be too far from Earth to cover the Sun completely. This leaves a bright ring of sunlight visible around the Moon's silhouette. This image from 2012 captures the progression of such an event over Monument Valley.
