Geminids over Kitt Peak

NASA APOD · David A. Harvey
COSMIC MESSAGE

This night sky view from Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona shows two large telescope domes. The dramatic scene was recorded early on December 14, 2010, near the peak of the Geminid Meteor Shower. The closest dome houses the 2.3-meter Bok Telescope. Behind it is the Mayall 4-meter telescope dome. The meteor shower was visible without telescopes.
