COSMIC MESSAGE
The wall of a ruined Viking church near Vallentuna, Sweden, still stands after a thousand winters. This time exposure from December 14 records stars leaving arcing trails during the long night. These trails reflect Earth's daily rotation, with the North Star, Polaris, at their center. A bright meteor from the Geminid shower also streaked across the sky.
