Kona Galaxy Garden

NASA APOD · Garden by Jon Lomberg; Kite Aerial Photography by Pierre and Heidy Lesage
COSMIC MESSAGE

This isn't a galaxy in space, but a meticulously planned garden in Kona, Hawaii. Spanning about 30 meters, it maps our Milky Way Galaxy with different plants depicting stars, globular clusters, and nebulae. Bright stars visible from Earth are shown on leaves around the marked location of the Sun. This garden illustrates the structure of our galaxy in a unique, earthly way.
