Star Colors in Orion
NASA APOD · Jens Hackmann
COSMIC MESSAGE
A star's color tells us its temperature. Red stars are cool, around 3,000 Kelvin, while blue stars are much hotter, over 30,000 Kelvin. Our Sun, a yellow star, is about 6,000 Kelvin. This image of Orion uses a star-trail technique to show these color differences across the constellation, making the temperature variations visible.
