This wide view of glowing gas and dust is known as The Seagull Nebula due to its bird-like appearance. The cosmic bird spans 1.6 degrees across the Milky Way plane, near the bright star Sirius in Canis Major. The region includes NGC 2327, a compact, dusty emission region with an embedded massive star.
