Rocket Plume Shadow Points to the Moon
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
This photo shows the shadow of a space shuttle Atlantis rocket plume pointing towards the Moon. This alignment happens when the Sun, Earth, Moon, and rocket are all in the right positions. For such a long shadow, the launch must occur near sunrise or sunset. During a full moon, the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the sky, creating this visual effect.
