COSMIC MESSAGE
The Virgo Cluster contains over a thousand galaxies, the closest large cluster to our Local Group. This mosaic of telescopic images captures its central region, spanning about 5x3 degrees on the sky. Faint foreground dust clouds from our own Milky Way lie above the cluster. The cluster's dominant giant elliptical galaxies are clearly visible.
