A Milky Way Band

NASA APOD · John P. Gleason
COSMIC MESSAGE

Most of the bright stars in our Milky Way Galaxy are in a disk. From our perspective within that disk, these stars appear as a diffuse band across the sky. This panorama shows a section of that band, with bright stars, dark dust lanes, and nebulae visible.
