COSMIC MESSAGE

Auroras are curtains of light, caused by charged particles from the Sun hitting Earth's atmosphere. This one, photographed in Ontario, Canada, shows the red and green hues of oxygen and nitrogen glowing after a solar coronal mass ejection. The event was seen as far south as Alabama.
