IC 59 and IC 63 in Cassiopeia

NASA APOD · Ken Crawford
COSMIC MESSAGE

Looking toward Cassiopeia, the comet-shaped clouds IC 59 and IC 63 appear to be dissipating. These clouds are about 600 light-years distant. Ionizing ultraviolet radiation from the hot, luminous star Gamma Cas, located 3 to 4 light-years away, is slowly eroding the nebulae.
