In the Vicinity of the Cone Nebula

NASA APOD · Dieter Willasch (Astro-Cabinet)
COSMIC MESSAGE

Strange shapes and textures can be found in the neighborhood of the Cone Nebula. Fine interstellar dust reacts with the energetic light and hot gas from young stars to create these forms. The brightest star on the right is S Mon, and the region below it is nicknamed the Fox Fur Nebula. The blue glow around S Mon is due to reflection of light by neighboring dust.
