COSMIC MESSAGE
Open star clusters are groups of stars that formed at the same time. M35, on the upper left, is relatively young at 150 million years old and diffuse, with about 2500 stars. NGC 2158, on the lower right, is older and more compact, with many more stars packed into a smaller volume. Both clusters are found near the plane of our Milky Way galaxy.
