NGC 4372 and the Dark Doodad

NASA APOD · Ivan Eder
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Dark Doodad Nebula, a dusty cosmic cloud, drifts through southern skies in the constellation Musca, The Fly. It is visible against rich starfields just south of the prominent Coalsack Nebula and the Southern Cross. The nebula stretches for about 3 degrees across the scene. At its southern tip, the globular star cluster NGC 4372, a background object in our Milky Way's halo, appears to punctuate it.
