COSMIC MESSAGE

A red sprite flashes above South Dakota, a rarely seen form of lightning. These sprites start as ionized air balls about 100 meters wide, shooting down from 80 kilometers high at ten percent the speed of light. They are quickly followed by upward-streaking ionized balls. This phenomenon was only confirmed about 25 years ago.
