COSMIC MESSAGE
The Horsehead Nebula and the Orion Nebula are prominent features in the constellation Orion, about 1,500 light-years away. This mosaic shows the dark Horsehead Nebula as a silhouette against a glowing red background on the lower left. The bright star Alnitak, the easternmost star in Orion's belt, is visible nearby. The Orion Nebula, a stellar nursery where new stars are forming, dominates the upper right corner of the image.
