COSMIC MESSAGE
Just south of the Orion Nebula lies NGC 1999, a blue reflection nebula. It's about 1,500 light-years away, at the edge of the Orion molecular cloud complex. The variable star V380 Orionis illuminates it. This cosmic view spans about 10 light-years, showing the nebula marked by a dark, sideways T-shape near its center. This dark shape was once thought to be a dust cloud.
