Haunting the Cepheus Flare

NASA APOD · Leo Shatz
COSMIC MESSAGE

These dusty cosmic clouds drift through the constellation Cepheus, about 1,200 light-years away. They are part of the Cepheus Flare molecular cloud complex, visible in dimly reflected starlight. One prominent feature, vdB 141 or Sh2-136, is also known as the Ghost Nebula. These regions are often sites of ongoing star formation.
