Jupiter's Triple Shadow Transit

NASA APOD · Leo Aerts
COSMIC MESSAGE

This webcam image from a ground-based telescope shows a rare event: three shadows cast by Jupiter's moons transiting the planet. Callisto, Io, and Europa are visible in the frame, and their shadows appear on Jupiter's sunlit cloud tops. The shadows of Callisto and Io are visible, with Europa's shadow just emerging. This triple shadow transit was captured on October 12.
