Comet Lovejoy Before Galaxy M63

COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet Lovejoy, C/2013 R1, was imaged here passing in front of the spiral galaxy M63. Discovered recently, this comet displayed a large green coma and a textured ion tail. It was visible to the unaided eye from dark northern locations before dawn, an unexpected sight.
