COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet Lovejoy, C/2013 R1, was captured here over a windmill in southern France. Its coma glows as it reflects sunlight and gases are excited by solar radiation. Comets like Lovejoy are chunks of ice and dust from the outer solar system, sometimes making close passes by the Sun.
