COSMIC MESSAGE
On January 5, 2014, a sunspot, AR 1944, so large it was visible without a telescope, crossed the solar disk at sunset. Captured from Switzerland, the sunspot appears distorted by Earth's atmosphere. This active region produced a substantial solar flare two days later.
