Kepler-186f is the first Earth-size planet found in the habitable zone of another star. This distant world orbits an M dwarf star, about half the size of our Sun, some 500 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. Data from the Kepler spacecraft allowed us to discover this planet. M dwarf stars are common, making up about 70 percent of the stars in the Milky Way.
