COSMIC MESSAGE
The Cocoon Nebula, IC 5146, is a star-forming region in Cygnus, about 4,000 light-years away. It's nearly 15 light-years wide and stands out in red, glowing hydrogen gas excited by young, hot stars. Blue, dust-reflected starlight is visible at its edges, all punctuating a long trail of interstellar dust clouds.
