Sharpless 249 and the Jellyfish Nebula

NASA APOD · César Blanco González
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Jellyfish Nebula, usually faint, is part of the supernova remnant IC 443. This bubble-shaped cloud formed from the explosion of a massive star. The light from that explosion reached Earth thousands of years ago. The nebula's arcing ridge and dangling tentacles are visible between the bright stars Mu and Eta Geminorum.
