This composite image shows the Andromeda Galaxy, M31, in both visible and infrared light. Andromeda is a massive spiral galaxy, over twice the diameter of the Milky Way, and just 2.5 million light-years away. Bright young blue stars trace its spiral arms, while reddish star-forming regions are visible in both wavelengths.
