The Rosetta mission's Philae lander made the first soft landing on a comet yesterday, about 500 million kilometers from Earth. This image was taken by Philae's ROLIS camera from about 3 kilometers away, with a resolution of 3 meters per pixel. It shows the landing site, dubbed Agilkia, on the nucleus of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This historic event marks a new chapter in our exploration of the solar system.
