Waves glow with a subtle blue light along the shore of Nangan Island, Taiwan, in this night sky and seascape. This bioluminescence comes from marine plankton called Noctiluca scintillans, or "sea sparkles," which are stimulated by wave motion. The faint Milky Way is also visible above.
