Galaxy, Stars, and Dust

COSMIC MESSAGE

This deep cosmic skyscape, about the size of a full moon, is in the constellation Pegasus. The brighter stars show diffraction spikes, an effect of reflecting telescopes. These stars are within our own Milky Way galaxy. Faint clouds of interstellar dust, known as high-latitude cirrus, reflect the combined starlight of the Milky Way.
