Mammatus Clouds Over Saskatchewan

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

These unusual mammatus clouds hang over Saskatchewan, Canada. Unlike typical flat-bottomed clouds, mammatus clouds have a bubbly appearance. They form when pockets of cold, moist air containing large water droplets or ice crystals sink into clear, dry air. This often happens in turbulent air near thunderstorms, creating a striking sky.
