COSMIC MESSAGE
Geminid meteors appear to stream from the constellation Gemini. These sand-sized bits of rock are shed by the asteroid 3200 Phaethon. The asteroid is unusual because it doesn't show the typical comet-like activity expected from a meteor shower parent body. This composite image captures many of the meteors as they streak across the sky.
