The Fox Fur Nebula

COSMIC MESSAGE
The Fox Fur Nebula is formed by cosmic dust and gas interacting with light and winds from hot, young stars. The characteristic blue glow on the left comes from dust reflecting light from the bright star S Monocerotis. The textured red and black areas are a combination of cosmic dust and reddish emission from ionized hydrogen gas. This region is a part of the larger Monoceros R2 molecular cloud.
