Nova over Thailand
NASA APOD · Jeff Dai
COSMIC MESSAGE
A nova in Sagittarius, discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae, glows above ancient Wat Mahathat in Thailand. This stellar explosion occurs on the surface of a white dwarf star, a dense remnant the size of Earth. It was bright enough to be seen with binoculars, even approaching naked-eye visibility.
