NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 4414 is a flocculent spiral, a galaxy with patchy, discontinuous spiral arms. The Hubble Space Telescope captured this image to help astronomers study how much mass these common galaxies contain. Located about 62 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices, NGC 4414 is one of the closest examples of its kind. Stars and gas at its visible edge orbit the center at high speeds, indicating a significant amount of dark matter.
