Equinox: Analemma over the Callanish Stones

NASA APOD · Giuseppe Petricca
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Sun doesn't return to the same spot in the sky every day at the same time. This composite image, an analemma, shows the Sun's path over a year, photographed from the same spot at the same time each day. It was taken near the ancient Callanish Stones in Scotland, which were built around 2700 BC.
