COSMIC MESSAGE

The Cat's Eye Nebula, NGC 6543, is a well-known planetary nebula. This composite image reveals an enormous, faint halo of gas over three light-years across, surrounding the brighter central nebula. This extended emission, captured by both ground and space telescopes, shows the outer layers of gas expelled by the dying star at its center.
